     Rowan of Rin is an inspiring story about a young boy named Rowan. Rowan is not the hero that anyone would ever even consider, he is smaller than most boys his age and can't take his mother's place working in the field day after day. Since he seems to be good for nothing else but carrying messages, Rowan tends to the Bukshah, gentle great woolly beasts that provide much for the village.

   Rowan is used to this pace of life, so when the mountain stream fails to flow keeping the sweet water that the bukshah require to keep them alive away. The villagers meet and seek out advice from their wise woman Sheba, as a cruel joke she says that they would be better off being guided by Rowan.

 After a genius plot Rowan and his six companions, all very capable villagers set off into the treacherous mountain. They're goal? To make it to the top through many deathly traps and tricks before reaching the coldest and highest part of the mountain to see why the stream no longer flows. And why the dragon no longer roars. Are they connected? Or have they two different reasons?
